Abstract

A few relatively small regions on the Earth are found which are characterized by the annual periodicity of the most pronounced seismic activity: Balkans and Turkey, the isthmus between North and South America, Alaska and the Aleutian Islands, and others. All these regions (in the nothern and southern hemispheres) are related to zones of subduction or to sections of the continental crust which are subjected to the active formation of breakings.
