Filaments of various types and peculiarities of their surrounding magnetic field

Abstract

We have analyzed the magnetic field associated with extended and ring filaments. The observations of five filaments in chromospheric and coronal lines were used. For extended filaments it was shown that areas of attenuation and decrease in darkening of filaments are located inside and in the neighborhood of bipolar regions of the magnetic field the filaments pass across. For extended filaments we estimated the average height of regions of the filament’s main body and the average inclination angle of these regions to the radial from the center of the Sun direction. The ring filaments were shown to be more complex and less stable formations than the extended filaments. Over the time of existence of ring filaments the structural formations and photospheric magnetic field associated with them noticeably change.
